Colorado State University Announces New Online Pre-Health Study Program

Students interested in applying to a medical, dental or veterinary science program can now fulfill the necessary prerequisites online through Colorado State University’s new Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Health Program. The CSU program offers many of the prerequisite courses consistently recommended prior to admissions to advanced health science degree programs by nursing schools, medical schools, and organizations such as the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges.

"CSU’s online post-bac pre-health program provides students who hope to obtain admission to a professional health program with flexible access to a phenomenal list of online biomedical science courses that will help them be more competitive in the application process and better prepared for the first year of a professional medical program,” explained Sherry Stewart, M.S., D.V.M., assistant dean for veterinary admissions at CSU.

“The Veterinary Admissions Committee at CSU values these types of courses as evidence of an applicant’s ability to handle a rigorous upper division biomedical sciences curriculum,” Stewart added. “They are especially good for updating outdated coursework, giving students a chance to improve grades, providing an opportunity to enhance overall quality of academic history, and helping students be more competitive in the application process and better prepared for the first year of a professional medical program.”

The program is designed for those considering a career in the medical field, career change, or preparation for further academic study. The program is extremely flexible, allowing students to take as many courses as their needs require. All courses are offered online, so students can study on their schedule, without the need to relocate or disrupt their current employment.

Admission to the university is not required to take courses in the Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Health Program.
