Like other gridiron athletes, CAM the Ram undergoes physical and medical evaluations to ensure he’s in tip-top shape for the Rocky Mountain Showdown, the football game that kicks off the season and annually pits the Colorado State University Rams and University of Colorado Buffs. In the video, Coach Mac whips CAM into shape as the Ram Handlers support him through a tough workout. A large-animal veterinarian and students from the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital then assess CAM’s preparation and overall readiness. Can CAM lead the Rams to a second consecutive victory against the Buffs?

With a name reflecting the school’s history as Colorado Agricultural and Mechanical College, CAM the Ram, a Rambouillet ram, has been the official mascot of CSU since 1945. CAM, who is managed by the CSU Alumni Association, is accompanied by student Ram Handlers to football games and many other events. Watch for him on the field!
