Roger Kornberg of Stanford University, the sole winner of the 2006 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, will speak at Colorado State University on Monday, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m., in Room W118 of the Anatomy and Zoology building.

His topic will be “The Molecular Basis of Eukaryotic Transcription.” Transcription is the process whereby DNA is converted to RNA, and the key control point in the pathway of gene expression. Transcriptional regulation underlies development, oncogenesis, and other fundamental processes.

Kornberg is a professor of structural biology at Stanford. His father, Arthur Kornberg, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1959 for studies of how genetic information is transferred from one DNA molecule to another.

This seminar is free and open to the public, but space is limited.
