Colorado State University Graduate Programs Earn High Marks from U.S. News & World Report

Buoyed by significant improvements in its School of Education, the part-time MBA program and Department of Biology, Colorado State University graduate programs continued to place among the best in the nation according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2015 Best Graduate Schools edition.

The part-time MBA program in CSU’s College of Business is the top program in the state, ranking No. 31 in the nation – three spots higher than the 2014 report. CSU’s School of Education, part of the College of Health and Human Sciences, made the most impressive jump, climbing 52 spots to No. 92. The Department of Biology, part of the College of Natural Sciences, moved up seven spots to No. 82.

Overall, 22 graduate programs at CSU were ranked among the top 100 in the country by U.S. News & World Report, which surveys more than 600 college and universities throughout the country, although rankings for each program are not published annually.

The CSU Professional Veterinary Medicine Program, its vet school, maintained its spot at No. 3 in the nation, based on the newly released U.S. News and World Report ranking of veterinary training programs; it has held a spot among the top three vet schools in the country for at least two decades. It is ranked No. 2 in the nation for federal research funding, according to a 2013 analysis by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research.

The professional program in the Department of Occupational Therapy in CSU’s College of Health and Human Sciences – designated a “Program of Excellence” by the state of Colorado – holds the No. 6 spot among similar programs nationwide, based the most recent ranking in 2012.

“These third-party rankings confirm that our faculty deliver a comprehensive, valuable education to our students,” said Rick Miranda, provost and executive vice president of CSU. “As a research university, we are constantly examining ways we can improve our academic programs, and these rankings are a sign that we continue to move in the right direction.”
