National Collegiate Landscape Competition Set for Colorado State University March 20-22

 “Olympics of Landscaping” Features 28 Individual and Team Events

FORT COLLINS –  More than 850 students from 65 of the nation’s top horticulture and landscape programs will compete at the 38th annual Student Career Days– “The National Collegiate Landscape Competition”– March 20-22.

Media is invited to shoot video, take photos and even participate in the landscape competition.

WHAT: Student Career Days is a combination skills exhibition, also known as the “Olympics of Landscaping,” and features individual and team events including:

• Tree climbing (arboriculture)
• Landscape design
• Drought/water management
• Patio and other hardscape installation
• Landscape installation

At a time when many students can’t find jobs after college, those graduating from college landscape programs have a better that 90 percent placement rate.

Student Career Days showcases the high demand in the landscape career. Companies from across the country will interview and recruit college horticulture students, including JOHN DEERE, Caterpillar Inc., Gravely, an Ariens Company Brand, BRICKMAN, ValleyCrest Landscape Companies, among others.

Today’s graduates in horticulture and landscape management will be critical to finding that balance in having a yard that can withstand extreme weather events, such as fire, drought, harsh winters, etc.
 

WHEN: Watch, shoot video, take photos, interview students; media can participate in the competition too.

Thursday (3/20) 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m./1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Students prepare for Saturday’s competition in events such as: 3D Exterior Landscape Design, Hardscape/Patio Installation, Irrigation System.

Friday (3/21) 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Students interviewed and recruited by the biggest names in landscaping at the Career Fair.

Saturday (3/22) 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
It’s COMPETITION DAY! – Come out and watch the students. Media can participate too.
