36th annual Business Day at Colorado State University Explores Intersection of Sports and Business

Business and athletics are both pursuits known for their competitive nature. On April 10, the 36th annual Business Day at the Colorado State University College of Business offers a full day of speakers and workshops that explore both the business of sports and the sport of business.

Kim Carver, award-winning CEO of Denver-based Altitude Sports and Entertainment, kicks off Business Day at 9 a.m. in the Lory Student Center Theatre on the CSU campus. Carver pioneered The MountainWest Sports Network, the first television network dedicated to a single college athletic conference.

Her talk is followed by a panel discussion with high-powered alumni of the College of Business at 10:30 a.m. in the Bohemian Auditorium of Rockwell Hall West.
Between 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., attendees have their choice of four workshops on topics including team building, personal branding, managing personal finances, and entrepreneurship, all offered in Rockwell West classrooms.

After lunch, at 1:30 p.m., Jason Levinthal takes the Lory Student Center Theater stage to talk about his business journey from his parents’ garage, where he built the first twin-tip skis in 1995, to starting a brand-new ski company, J Skis, last year. Along the way he has sold his company twice, won a medal at the first X Games Slopestyle event, and brought Full Tilt boots to life.

The final presentation of the day begins at 2:45 p.m. in the Bohemian Auditorium, where legendary CSU coaches Sonny Lubick and Tom Hilbert will discuss leadership, teamwork, dedication and character, integrating both athletics and business, and will take questions from the audience.

From 3:30 to 5 p.m., Business Day wraps up with a networking reception with refreshments in the foyer of Rockwell West.

All events are free and open to the public; tickets are required for the presentations by Kim Carver and Jason Levinthal and can be obtained at the Lory Student Center Box Office or online at csutix.com
