Note to Reporters: A photo of CANstruction is available with the advisory at news.colostate.edu.

Colorado State University’s 28th annual Cans Around the Oval food drive showcases creativity with its annual CANstruction challenge. Registered university and community organizations challenge one another to build unique sculptures out of cans and other donated food items collected from the Cans Around the Oval effort.

When:

CANstruction takes place 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Lory Student Center Plaza on the Colorado State University campus.

Details:

CANstruction allows teams to demonstrate their resourcefulness while helping people on campus understand the size and scope of hunger in the community and raising awareness for the food drive. All donations received benefit the Food Bank for Larimer County.

The structures will be judged by representatives of CSU and the Food Bank for Larimer County.

This year, organizers of Cans Around the Oval seek to collect more than 64,000 pounds of food and $52,000 in donations. The event is sponsored by CSU’s Student Leadership, Involvement and Community Engagement (SLiCE) office.
