Author Bill Bryson speaks at Colorado State University March 6

FORT COLLINS — Humorous tales of hiking the Appalachian Trail and opinions on the best and worst about Britain will be discussed by travel author and humorist Bill Bryson at Colorado State University.

Bryson will speak at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6, in the CSU Lory Student Center Grand Ballroom on campus. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. His appearance is presented by Morgan Library.

General admission tickets are $55, $25 for CSU students with ID, and signed hardcover copies of Bryson’s new book, The Road to Little Dribbling, will be available for purchase.

A limited number of gold reserved tickets, which include priority seating, a catered reception in the LSC Theatre following the presentation, a hardcover copy of The Road to Little Dribbling, and a chance to meet Bill Bryson, will be available for $110.

Free parking on campus will be available in the Morgan Library lot (accessed from Shields and Pitkin streets) and the Engineering lot (off Laurel and Meldrum streets). The Lory Student Center is a short walk from either the Laurel Street or University Avenue MAX Bus Rapid Transit Service stations.

As an internationally recognized author, Bryson will describe his experiences in witty detail. His newest adventure book, The Road to Little Dribbling, tells the tale of his return to Britain, where he travels from Bognor Regis in the south to Cape Wrath in the north and describes the best and worst about Britain.

His comical book about hiking the Appalachian Trail,A Walk in the Woods, has been turned into a film starring Robert Redford, Nick Nolte and Emma Thompson.

Bryson has authored dozens of books on travel, language, history, science and biography. His bestselling travel books include The Lost Continent, Neither Here Nor There, Notes from a Small Island, which was voted the book that best represents Britain. A Short History of Nearly Everything won the Royal Society’s Aventis Prize, as well as the Descartes Prize, which is the European Union’s highest literary award.
