Media advisory/photo opportunity: CSU College of Business holds unique Global Business Academy for high school students

WHAT:
The CSU College of Business Global Business Academy is a new, one-of-a-kind summer program for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. Participants will experience a 12-day, action-packed program with students from around the globe to learn about how to use business to create a better world.

For its inaugural program, bright, talented and ambitious students are represented from 14 different nations. Fourteen students will be attending from outside of the US (Brazil, Chile, China, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Netherlands, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom), and 12 additional students have international backgrounds (China, Mexico, Pakistan, Somalia, and Vietnam).

Reporters and photographers are invited to cover a number of high-impact, visual events occurring July 10-20.

Tuesday, July 10 – Ram Rumble, CSU College of Business, Rockwell West Building, Room 207: An immersive, one day experience that takes students from business ideation to validation and pitching to a panel of entrepreneurs from Google and Otterbox from 6-8 p.m. Sessions involve team building, business ideation, prototyping, validating ideas with potential customers and ultimately gaining real-world experience pitching ideas.

Tuesday, July 17 – Bee Car Game Kick-Off, CSU College of Business, Rockwell West Building, Rooms 207/209: In partnership with faculty from INSEAD, one of Europe’s leading graduate business schools, College of Business faculty will engage students in a business simulation introducing them all aspects of business and entrepreneurship. The business simulation will take place from 8:30 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Friday, July 20 – Strategy Fair and Graduation, CSU College of Business, Rockwell West Building, Room 209: Students will showcase their strategies to the Bee Car simulation game followed by a graduation celebration. Strategy presentations will take place from 8:30-9:30 a.m. and the graduation ceremony will run from 10 a.m. – noon.

DETAILS:
Participants will come away from the program with new, lifelong skills in international business and leadership, greater confidence, new passions and interests to explore, global friendships, and ideas for how to business knowledge to what they care about most. No matter where students end up in their future career, having an understanding of what makes the business world run is invaluable. CSU’s College of Business focuses on how to use business to create a better world.

Donations from generous sponsors provided limited-income, underrepresented, high-achieving students with scholarships to attend this unique, premier higher education business event. Sponsors include Deloitte, KMG Capital Partners, Daniels Fund, Arrow Electronics, Liberty Global, Liberty Latin America, Coca-Cola, JBS, Leprino Foundation, Colorado Academy and the Bridge Project Board/Howard Foundation.

The program also received support from the CSU community, including the College of Business, Office of the Chancellor, College of Agricultural Sciences and Provost’s Office.

“The Global Business Academy provides an authentic college experience for high school students to learn about how business can create a better world. This is an amazing, immersive experience that brings day-to-day business interactions to life through simulated games, connections with global executives and world-renowned faculty, and offers many teambuilding and self-discovery activities. It’s a great way for a high school student to start preparing for college and enhance their application,” said  CSU College of Business Dean Beth Walker.
