Colorado State University’s highly regarded Veterans Symposium will once again provide veterans and community members the opportunity to discuss issues facing veterans, and gather important information to help them navigate their post-services lives.

The biennial Veterans Symposium is set for Sept. 7 at CSU’s Canvas Stadium. The one-day event will feature top speakers, and many opportunities to gather and share information. The symposium will emphasize the value of veterans and the leadership skills they bring to higher education, and to private and public employment.

“The Veterans Symposium has proven to be a tremendous asset for veterans and community members,” said Maggie Walsh, assistant chief of staff to the president and director of veteran initiatives at CSU. “This symposium is an example of CSU taking the lead in unique programming and opportunities for veterans transitioning from military service to civilian life.”

CSU’s continued commitment to better serve military veterans has been recognized by Military Times as, for the second consecutive year, the university is ranked in the top five when it comes to serving military service members, veterans and their families. CSU ranks No. 5 among public schools and No. 7 among all four-year schools.

Veterans and those active in military service across the country are taking notice of CSU’s commitment to their success. Nearly 2,000 veterans, dependents of veterans and active duty students currently are enrolled at the university.

Featured speakers

Featured symposium speakers include Dr. Betty Moseley Brown, Chief of VA Veterans Experience (U.S.M.C. retired); Lt. Gen. James Dickinson, Commander of Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command (and CSU alumnus); and Jared Lyon, President and CEO of Student Veterans of America and 2018 Presidential Leadership Scholar.
