Christopher Ketcham, environmental journalist and freelance writer for various publications including National Geographic and The New York Times, makes his author debut with This Land, a book about “how cowboys, capitalism and corruption are ruining the American West.” Ketcham is set to speak Tuesday, July 23, in Fort Collins, continuing Colorado State University’s Evening with an Author Series.

Ketcham has investigated and reported on public lands across the West and the agencies that are responsible for tending to the quality, preservation and state of these areas. This Land discusses the issues surrounding governmental mismanagement and commercial exploitation of these public resources. Ketcham’s book works to hold American politics accountable for the damage being done to the environment.

This Land looks toward the future and calls for change. Ketcham encourages readers to understand the importance of keeping ecosystems healthy through rejecting capitalist systems and corporate power and greed.

Ketcham’s talk is free and open to the public; no tickets are required. The event will begin at 7 p.m., at the Hilton Fort Collins, 425 W. Prospect Road. Seating for this program is on a first-come, first-served basis.

A book sale and signing will follow the talk.
