Media Advisory: CSU to break ground on Temple Grandin Equine Center
Colorado State University will honor one of its iconic professors when it breaks ground Monday, Feb. 10, at the Temple Grandin Equine Center.

The groundbreaking will take place at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb.10, at CSU’s B.W. Pickett Equine Center, 735 S. Overland Trail, Fort Collins.
Details
Temple Grandin, CSU’s world-renowned professor of animal sciences and autism advocate, and CSU President Joyce McConnell will be the featured speakers at this event. Both will be available for brief media interviews following the event. James Pritchett, interim dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences and interim director of the Agricultural Experiment Station, will also speak.
The Temple Grandin Equine Center will be home to a number of educational and service-oriented programs:
- Equine Sciences undergraduate classes (about 400 students)
- Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies programming (services for individuals with special needs)
- Research
(The first study will focus on providing equine-assisted occupational therapy to children with autism)
- The CSU Right Horse Program
(Taking rescue horses and retraining them to help provide therapy services)
Additional information
This project is separate from the Temple Grandin Equine Center at Spur, CSU’s campus at the National Western Center in Denver. That project breaks ground in April.
