The team of the noted hurricane forecaster William Gray at Colorado State University, led by Phillip Klotzbach, calls for 17 named storms, a very busy season indeed, more than twice the number seen in the Atlantic and Caribbean during an average year. Nine storms could become hurricanes, Klotzbach said recently.
