Albert Bimper is an associate professor in the Department of Ethnic Studies and the senior associate athletic director for Diversity, Inclusion, and Engagement in the Department of Athletics. His research focuses on student athlete development; specifically, the intersection of race and sports and how they are related to identity and the educational development of student athletes of color. Bimper is a past recipient of the Graduate Diversity Award from the North American Society for the Sociology of Sport.
Bimper received his B.S. in Health and Exercise Science from CSU. He earned an M.S. in Sport Psychology from Purdue University and his Ph.D from the University of Texas, Austin, studying curriculum and instruction with an emphasis on Cultural Studies in Education. Bimper played college football for Colorado State and played professionally for the Indianapolis Colts.
