Blythe LaGasse is an associate professor in the Department of Music, Theater, and Dance. Her research focuses on music therapy, with a specific emphasis on the use of music to improve communication and cognitive skills in children with developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorders. LaGasse is on the faculty for the Center for Biomedical Research in Music, where she is a trainer for the Neurologic Music Therapy Institute. She was the 2011-2012 recipient of the College of Liberal Arts Distinction in Outreach Award.
LaGasse received her B.M. in Music Therapy from the University of Kansas, her M.M. in Music and Music Therapy from CSU, and her Ph.D. in Music Therapy and Communication Neuroscience from the University of Kansas.
