Christopher Gentile is an associate professor in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition. His research focuses on metabolism, obesity and the role of ER stress in obesity-related endothelial dysfunction. In 2014, Gentile was the recipient of the Boettcher Web-Waring Early Investigator Biomedical Research Award.
Gentile received his B.S. in exercise physiology from Skidmore College in 1999, and his M.S. in integrative physiology from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2003. He earned his Ph.D in human nutrition, foods and exercise from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2006. Gentile is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association and the American Physiological Society.
