Jason Sibold

Sibold studies forest ecosystem dynamics and change, both natural and human-caused, with the goal of aiding forest ecosystem management, restoration and conservation.

Sibold’s primary interest is in the influences of physical landscapes, biological characteristics, climate variability, and human land-use history on patterns of fire and insect outbreaks and resulting forest landscape characteristics in the American West and southern South America.

Sibold is a member of the Association of American Geographers and the Ecological Society of America. He received the College of Liberal Arts Excellence in Teaching Award in 2010.

Sibold studied geography at the University of Colorado Boulder. He earned his B.A. in 1998, his M.A. in 2001, and his Ph.D. in 2005.
