Witt studies how a person’s ability to act influences perception. This involves action-specific perception, perception of spatial layout, perception and action relationships, and embodied perception and cognition.

She is a member of the Vision Sciences Society, the Psychonomic Society and the Association for Psychological Science.

In 2011, Witt received the James C. Naylor Award for Teaching Excellence in Psychology in 2011 and Association of Psychological Science’s Janet Spence Award for Transformational Early Career Contributions in 2015.

She has served on the editorial board for both Psychological Science and the Journal of Experimental Psychology.

Witt received her B.A. in psychology from Smith College in 2000. She then studied cognitive psychology at the University of Virginia, earning her M.A. in 2003 and her Ph.D. in 2007.
