John Belisle is a professor in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology and the current director of the Rocky Mountain Regional Center of Excellence for Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Disease Research – a position he has held since 2007. His research focuses on the characterization of the physiology of bacterial pathogens – particularly Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Mycobacterium leprae and Francisella tularensis – and how products of these bacteria interact with the hosts.
Belisle was named a CSU Monfort Professor in 2003, and an Honorary Scientist of the National Veterinary Research & Quarantine Service of the Republic of Korea in 2006. He served as the director of the Mycobacteria Research Laboratories from 2002 to 2009.
Belisle earned his Ph.D. from CSU in 1992.
