Karyn Hamilton is a professor in the Department of Health and Exercise Science and the director of the Translational Research on Aging and Chronic Disease Laboratory. Her research focuses on shared characteristics of slowed aging and interventions to increase health span. Research topics including stress resistance, endogenous antioxidants, mitochondrial biogenesis and translational regulation of proteins important for increased health span. Hamilton is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine.
Hamilton received her B.S. in nutrition from Montana State University in 1989. She then studied exercise physiology, earning her M.S. from Montana State University in 1996 and her Ph.D. from the University of Florida in 2000. She completed postdoctoral fellowships at the Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Florida.
