Ketul Popat is an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. His research focus includes biomaterials, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine; nanotechnology, nanomaterials, and bio-nanotechnology; drug delivery, surface modification and biomimetics; and polymeric nanostructures and metal oxide nano-architectures. Popat was awarded the George T. Abell Outstanding Early Career Faculty Award for the College of Engineering in 2010.
Popat earned his B.E. in Chemical Engineering from Maharaja Siyajirao University in 1998. He earned his Master of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2000. He received his Ph.D in Bioengineering from the University of Illinois, Chicago in 2003.
