Matt Camper

Camper is the director of the CSU Bug Zoo, a live arthropod collection used in area outreach events. The CSU Bug Zoo is very active in the Northern Colorado community, introducing students to invertebrates and educating them about their habits.

Camper serves as the primary contact for insect identification at the Center for Sustainable Integrated Pest Management’s Plant Diagnostic Clinic, helping members of the public to identify pests and deal with pest infestations. He also serves as a faculty sponsor for the Entomology Club, the oldest continuously operating student organization on campus.

His research focuses on two main areas: insect pests of horticultural commodity crops, and, with the increase in bed bugs around Colorado, urban entomology and the Cimex species pest complex; and bringing hands-on science experiments and demonstrations to high enrollment classes.

Camper was named a Best Teacher at CSU in 2017, and now serves as assistant dean of teaching practice and academic programs for the College of Agricultural Sciences.

Camper holds a B.S., B.A. and M.S. from Colorado State University.
