Arabi is the director and principal investigator for the Urban Water Innovation Network, an NSF-funded Sustainability Research Network aiming to address challenges threatening urban water systems.

As the Borland Endowed Professor of Water Resources in civil and environmental engineering, Arabi’s work focuses on integration of water systems. His expertise includes risk analysis of water and environmental systems, optimization, hydrologic assessments, watershed modeling and water quality control.

Arabi is also the creator and director of CSU’s One Water Solutions Institute, which coordinates synergistic activities and products across several research consortiums. And he’s the lead developer of the open-source software, environmental Resource Assessment and Management System, that enables development of scalable and accessible online tools for sustainable management of land, water and energy resources.

Arabi received his B.S. and M.S. in civil engineering from the University of Tehran and his Ph.D. in civil engineering and water resources from Purdue University.
