Hurricane forecasts

Phil Klotzbach

Klotzbach is a Senior Research Scientist for the Department of Atmospheric Science in the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering. He has worked in the department for the past 23 years and was co-author on the Atlantic basin hurricane forecasts with Dr. William Gray through 2005, becoming the first author in 2006. 

Klotzbach developed the two-week forecasts issued during the peak months of the hurricane season between August-October. He has authored over 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Climate and Weather and Forecasting.  

Klotzbach graduated from Bridgewater State College with a B.S. in Geography in 1999. Going on to study atmospheric science at CSU, earning his M.S. in 2002 and Ph.D. in 2007.
