Sonia Kreidenweis is a professor in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences and a University Distinguished Professor at Colorado State. Her research focuses on tropospheric chemistry, aerosol dynamics, aerosol-cloud-climate interactions and visibility. Kreidenweis is a fellow with the American Association for Aerosol Research (AAAR) and previously served as president of the association.
Kreidenweis was awarded the George T. Abell Outstanding Teaching and Service Faculty Award in 2008 and was named Professor of the Year by her department in 2005.
Kreidenweis earned her B.S. in chemical engineering at Manhattan College in 1983. She then studied chemical engineering at the California Institute of Technology, completing her M.S. in 1985 and her Ph.D. in 1989. In addition to the AAAR, Kreidenweis is a fellow with the American Meteorological Society and the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere.
