Soo Kang is an associate professor in the Hospitality Management Program. Her research focuses on consumer behaviors in hospitality and tourism — specifically, cross-cultural tourism behaviors and management; Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) marketing and management; and quality-of-life issues in the hospitality and tourism arenas. A side research interest is gambling management, including studies of residents’ quality-of-life issues in gambling communities both in Colorado and South Korea. Kang authored a chapter on casino gambling in Colorado and South Dakota for the 2009 publication The History of Gambling in America.
Kang attended Kansas State University for hospitality management, where she earned her M.S. in 1999 and her Ph.D. in 2002. Kang was a visiting scholar of the Hong Kong Polytechnic Institute and South Korea’s Kyung Hee University. She is currently a Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE).
