As it is, Colorado has stepped up state efforts to control the disease. Work began with inspection of backyard bird flocks (commercial operators have been checking their flocks all along) and is not being expanded to include some wild birds. As The Denver Post reported Friday, the state’s Department of Agriculture, Department of Public Health and Environment and Colorado State University have formed a task force to take on that job.
