Civil engineering assistant professor John van de Lindt at Colorado State University simulated the effects of a major earthquake on a 160-square-foot, one-story building built on a “shake table” in the laboratory at CSU’s Engineering Research Center. The simulation assessed damages that would be caused by an earthquake – information that will help develop a method for building stronger wood-framed buildings.
