For more than three decades, advancements in veterinary science have enabled the treatment of horses with leg injuries and returned them back to competition. However, the assumption that horses can’t heal after a leg injury persists, according to Wayne McIlwraith, equine surgeon and professor at Colorado State University’s Orthopedic Research Center.
