Herd, a 5-11, 199-pound defensive back from Rancho Buena Vista, Calif., was one of 132 players nationally to be recognized for having a positive influence on their communities. Herd has spent the majority of his four years at Colorado State volunteering with local organizations such as Respite Care and Poudre School District, as well as involvement in senior citizen homes.
