At the Colorado State University Veterinary Hospital last week Zeus had surgery to repair hip dysplasia. Zeus’ case was so severe surgeons could not do a hip replacement. Instead, they had to shorten Zeus’ femur and fashion a new joint from muscle tissue. Veterinarians say hip dysplasia is an all too common problem in dogs raised at puppy mills.
