Emerald ash borer: Consumers should check for pesticide licenses


Nobody can stop you from using pesticides to try to kill emerald ash borers that are miles away from threatening your ash trees.
And the Colorado Department of Agriculture can’t stop licensed pesticide applicators from selling you such pesticide applications — even though the agency concurs with federal and Colorado State University experts that only trees within 5 miles of the infested zone in Boulder are at high risk of hosting the bug in 2014.
