Outlet:

A study in the Midwest and Eastern United States estimated that the beetle will kill over 17 million ash trees between 2009-2019 and projected that eradication costs will exceed $10 billion. Further, the current management options such as insecticide treatment and preemptive tree removal have failed in other states. As Dr. Whitney Crenshaw of Colorado State University points out, “once the beetle is established there is no chance of eradication.”
