While much of the data was shared with the hurricane center to aid real-time forecasts for the storm, NASA atmospheric scientist Scott Braun from the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md., and Michael Montgomery from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo., took all the information and plotted it back into a computer model that produced a simulation that closely matched what Gert actually did.
