A recent study at Colorado State University shows that there is a much higher incidence of nasal tumors in dogs living in a home with secondhand tobacco smoke compared to a smoke-free environment, and that a pet bird’s respiratory system is especially sensitive to any type of air pollutant, with secondhand smoke exposure presenting a big risk for pneumonia and lung cancer.
