Military on Big Island preserves rare species

The conservation work is part of a set of federal mandates requiring military installations to protect threatened and endangered species on the military property. The center for which Schnell and the other 50 or so resources management scientists work is part of Colorado State University, which has a contract with the Army to make sure the species’ protection plan is followed.
