The event will honor three Colorado State University researchers, including one credited with creating the Peace Corps template.

Kyle Saunders, a political science professor at CSU who studies elections and interest groups, said the convention is designed to provide a bump and serve as the nominee’s official introduction to the country.
“You kind of scratch your head and think, ‘Isn’t this guy from the West? Shouldn’t he know about this [stuff],” said Colorado State University political science professor John Straayer.
Fort Collins billionaire Pat Stryker’s family foundation will donate up to $3 million to support expansion of the home of Colorado State University’s business college.
The first campaign debate between Republican incumbent Marilyn Musgrave and Democratic challenger Betsy Markey will be at 8 p.m. Oct. 9 at CSU.
“That would not have been a good day” for an outdoor speech, said Colorado state climatologist Nolan Doesken.
