The National Institutes of Health awarded a $40 million grant to Colorado State University on Wednesday for a regional center to fight human-to-animal diseases such as West Nile and hantavirus. The four-year grant will establish the Rocky Mountain Regional Center of Excellence to develop vaccines and diagnostic techniques for such diseases, whether they emerge from animals or as a result of bioterrorism.
