Mike Bartolo of the Colorado State University Extension Agricultural Station at Rocky Ford and John Salazar, Colorado Department of Agriculture Commissioner, have been in contact for several months concerning the adverse publicity caused by the listeria outbreak traced to a packing shed at Jensen Farms in the Holly/Eads area and falsely attributed to Rocky Ford melons and melons grown in the “Rocky Ford region” as stated by media.
