Purple Majesty Potatoes – rich in high-potency antioxidants – were developed at Colorado State University and are grown at Farm Fresh Direct in Montrose. They make their debut today at Wild Oats stores throughout the metro area at $1.99 for a 3-pound bag. These potatoes, richer in antioxidants than blueberries, are about the size of new potatoes – and are deep purple inside and out. During this market-testing period, they’re available only at Wild Oats in the metro area and at Ralph’s Fresh Fair in Southern California. If they go over big, they’ll be sold in the rest of the world come fall.
