Our own Colorado State University has a long, storied connection to this grand-scale trade show. In fact, the first grand champion steer ever exhibited at the Stock Show – in 1906 – came from CSU (or Colorado Agriculture College it was called then). The 1,150-pound shorthorn later sold for what was then a record price, 33 cents a pound.
