Storms, land boom usher in ’06

There will be 17 named storms in 2006, predict Phil Klotzbach and William Gray, long-range forecasters at Colorado State University’s Tropical Meteorology Project. That’s quite a bit more than the Atlantic basin’s average of 9.6 named storms per year, but a far cry from the 26 named storms in 2005.
