The nation’s leading center for hurricane study, the Tropical Meteorology Project at Colorado State University, predicted on April 4 that this will be an above average year for Atlantic hurricane activity, with an estimated 81 percent probability that at least one major hurricane will strike the U.S. mainland, and a 64 percent probability that it will make landfall on the Atlantic Coast.
