Opponents, many from the veterinary community, have concerns about nutritional imbalances and mistaken oversupplementation and risks of infectious disease from contaminated meat sources. They also cite documented animal deaths as a result of raw-food diets. “I do not recommend raw-food diets for carnivores,” says Narda Robinson, a veterinarian at Colorado State University. “There is too much risk of infectious disease.”
