There’s a proud tradition of walk-ons becoming stars in the CSU football program, so new coach Jim McElwain was pleased to welcome another half-dozen nonscholarship players to practice Tuesday along with Calvin Tonga, a junior-college transfer who wasn’t cleared to join the team until after fall-semester classes began.
