Biography
Clare Kazanski is a North America Region scientist for The Nature Conservancy. She supports multiple teams across the region, including the Cities Network and the Regenerative Grazing Lands strategy, for which she serves as the science lead.
Clare is a creative systems thinker and problem solver skilled at collaborating across socio-ecological disciplines to advance solutions for people and nature. She synthesizes scientific evidence to support strategy development and implementation and builds new research collaborations with internal and external partners to address key science needs.
Clare earned a Ph.D. in ecology, evolution and behavior from the University of Minnesota. She was awarded a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship and Doctoral Dissertation Improvement Grant for her research on the capacity of soil to store carbon and act as a long-term natural climate solution under global environmental change. Prior to her graduate research, Clare worked with Environmental Defense Fund in Washington, D.C., to advance federal climate change policy by developing stakeholder partnerships and engaging with Congressional staff.
